Due to the nature of their business which houses sizable cool room storage operating 24/7 they have a constant demand for power across the year. Having demand for energy around the clock, the premises are on a peak/off-peak tariff which makes power consumed from the grid during daylight hours more expensive than evening off peak rates.

As a result the company decided to install a 30kW Solargain solar PV system to reduce their energy needs and reliance on the grid. The system comprises156 x Solar One Monocrystalline solar panels and 3 SMA 10000TL Tripower 3 Phase inverters.

Due to the roof being completely flat and there being plenty of roof space tilt frames were used to maximise the amount of output from the system.

The 130 kilowatt hours per day the system is designed to produce as an average across the year will provide approximately 40% of the locations peak daytime energy needs, dramatically reducing their reliance upon the power billed at the higher rate.

Financially, given their current tariff and the projected rises in the cost of energy to come they anticipate the system will have paid for itself in 3-4 years giving them a most satisfactory tax free financial return.

Also as the freehold owners of the premises the system is a significant value add to their asset as we head towards mandatory disclosure of energy efficiency for commercial premises in the years to come.

Prime Products has been impressed with the quality of product and workmanship with their first system that they have now asked Solargain to take a look at some of their other locations to see if they are also suitable for a similar system.

As the freehold owners of the premises the system is a significant value add to their asset as we head towards mandatory disclosure of energy efficiency for commercial premises in the years to come.
